Greek Easter Biscuits



Ingredients:
250g softened unsalted butter
1 1/2 cups sugar
2 tblsp vanillin sugar
4 eggs, plus 1 extra for glazing
1/2 glass orange juice
1/2 glass milk
1/4 tsp salt
grated zest of 3 oranges (orange part only)
1 1/2 tsp baking powder
1 kg self raising flour
Sesame seeds, for sprinkling

Method:
Preheat oven to 170 degrees
Line baking trays with baking paper

Cream butter & sugar, then add vanillin sugar, eggs, orange juice,milk, salt & orange zest
Beat well
Add baking powder & enough sifted flour to achieve a good dough consistency - keep adding flour until mixture is smooth & workable
Roll dough into long snakes, then form into a plaits about 8cm long
Alternatively, you can roll a snake 25cm long, then fold it in half, twist it & join ends together to form a circle

Put shapes on prepared baking trays, brush with beaten egg & sprinkle with sesame seeds

Bake for 15-20 minutes until golden brown
