Burnt Butter Biscuits



Ingredients:
250g butter
250g sugar
1 tsp Vanilla Essence
2 eggs, well beaten
315g self raising flour
a pinch of salt
blanched almonds, halved

Method:
Heat the butter slowly in a saucepan until it is light brown
Allow to cool, then beat in the sugar & the vanilla
Add eggs & beat in thoroughly
Sift flour & salt & fold into the mixture
Form mixture into small balls & arrange on greased oven trays, leaving room to spread
Press half an almond into the top of each biscuit
Bake in a moderate oven (180 degrees) for 12 -15 minutes
